Prevent Spam Calls to Your Mobile Phone

Register your phone with the National US Do Not Call Registry to avoid receiving unwanted marketing calls.

Have you ever been disrupted by a call from a telemarketer when you are watching your favorite TV show or late in the night when you are sleeping?

If so, you’re not alone.

To stop this your first step is to register your cell phone number with the FCC's Do-Not-Call Registry.

When you've registered callers are only allowed to call you when they
- do not call commercially or do not include unsolicited advertisements,
- have established a business relationship with you,
- do not call commercially or do not include unsolicited advertisements.

Consumers can register their residential and mobile telephone, by Internet or by telephone for free.

In addition to the Do-Not-Call Registry the caller-id may also reduce the number of marketing calls to your phone.

With the caller-id you should know when a telemarketer is calling you] because telemarketers must transmit caller-id information and may not block their numbers.

When you register your phone number with the FCC unsolicited telephone calls to your home before 8 am or after 9 pm are not allowed.
Callers have to provide you with these additional information which will also reduced marketing calls to your phone:
- The Caller also must give you the name of the entity on whose behalf the call is being made.
- A telephone number or address at which you may contact that entity.
- Anyone making a telephone solicitation call to your phone must provide his/her name.

You can register your phone number for free. Your phone number will remain for five years on the national do-not-call list. You may re-enter your number after five years, and you may remove your phone number from the list at any time.
